Batemans Bay Wreck - 9-September-2005 @ 3:48:31 PM
Sydney Project team will be travelling south to a dive a new wreck.

The team will be travelling on October long weekend, and will be diving on a new wreck location in Batesman Bay, with a mission to survey the location and identify the wreck.

From research with the Heritage office, there are possibility's that this may be the second of the four liberty ships that were sank during WW2 off NSW coast. This could be the location for the liberty ship Robert J.Walker.

Further updates will come, once the team returns from the site.

Update: Wreck yet to be found - 10-October-2005 @ 3:46:11 PM
Keith Appeleby travelled to sound the site of a possible new wreck, where he found that the site is deeper than originally thought. The site is on a steep slope that drops down to around 110 metres depth.

The wreck was not confirmed on the day, due to strong winds in the afternoon, so another search trip will be needed, to follow up on a new set of marks from the local fisherman in Batemans Bay.

A group from SP did however travel down south, and did two dives on the Bega, with conditions some of the best ever seen on the wreck, with a huge Sun fish seen on the bottom. Photos from the weekend are in the gallery section.
